I had a lot of leftover yarn from the Darwin Shawl, so I wanted to make a super simple hat from it. I was inspired by the Sockhead Hat, but I didn't want the dumb pointiness. I really enjoyed the easy stockinette, and the hat turned out the perfect size on my first shot. I anticipate wearing this ALL the time. I'd definitely make another one.

I made this hat for my coworker, Jessica. She absolutely loves trilobites, so I took the trilobite pattern from this, charted it, and used it in my own version. I like the crown shaping and ribbing a lot more in my version. I can't stand a pointy hat, and I feel like this really solves the problem.

While we were in Grand Marais, Nate and I went into a yarn shop, and he really liked the colors in this yarn. I made him a hat with a broken rib pattern so that it would flow from the ribbing, but still be relatively flat so that it would stay loose. I also added some short rows in the ribbing so that it would sit comfortably at a slouch. He has a hard time telling the front though, I probably should have put a label in... Lol

WEBS had their big annual sale, and I snapped up this Cream yarn. I love getting a strange yarn at least once a year. This milk yarn is so soft and silky, I love having it next to my skin. It also is super breathable, so it's not too hot, but still warm. For my North Shore vacation, I wanted to make a sweater to wear in the car, using the yarn. I wanted something with an interesting shape, and I'm mostly happy with the result. It's a little on the short side, so I can wear it, but it's not the best. I wish I could easily go back and lengthen it, but not so much. Oh well. I can still wear it, and I'd probably make it again in the future.

I wanted to make my coworker, Cathy, a retirement gift. I wanted to use this BFL yarn, but wasn't super sure what hat to make. I decided to look through my past patterns, and figured that this lovely and simple hat would be a good fit. I changed the shaping on the crown so that it would be slouchier, and I think I added more rows of ribbing so make it easier. I really like the end result, and I like the shape more than the first one I made.

I wear this scarf so often, that when I had this really pretty Taiyo, I figured they'd be a perfect pair. I love how comfortable it is, without being stifling. The colors in this are just so great, I love it to pieces.

After seeing this finished project in a yarn shop, I knew that I definitely wanted to make it. I tried making it with some acrylic, but it was all wrong. Using the actual Flutterby worked way better. I feel like I did something wrong though, because the proportions seem really wonky. I might try making it again, but probably not. It's fine. But I'm not super stoked about it.

I had this skein of Cosmic Wonder Dust that I adored, but couldn't find the right pattern for. I also had a really hard time tracking down a second skein of it, but after going to StevenBe, I found this really pretty blue that is so vibrant, it really sets off the Cosmic Wonder Dust. I am in love with the finished product, and because it's so big, it's great for snuggling with.

I really love all of verybusymonkey's shawls. They have such interesting and distinct themes. I really love how this one evolves the texture, and still has a really cozy and wearable shape. This yarn is also crazy soft and silky. The beautiful color flecks are really set off by the subtle pattern. I love everything about it!
